Happy December, everyone! I have some news to share ahead of this week's release of my first adventure module, The Selkie Envoy.

Here come the reveals. First up...

The cover art

Attached to this devlog is the adventure module's front cover artwork. For my first product, I kept it simple: a striking image with the title and subtitle.

Do you dig the ice formation? I have to give credit to Marc Grove on Unsplash, a photo library website that provides photos for free, even for commercial use. I've used Unsplash for several projects, including my jam entry Borderforge, and I can't recommend it enough for scrappy, zero-budget creators. As a bonus, this image also inspired the color scheme for the Itch.io page as of this post.

For the typeset, I lifted Google Font's Balthazar, a typeset by Dario Muhafara. Asides from having a cool name, Balthazar feels appropriate for giving those Skyrim vibes on a $0 budget.

The price

The starting price on all platforms will be $4.99.

Why is it paid? As mentioned on the store page, I wrote this adventure for Storytelling Collective's RPG Writer Workshop. In their course, they encouraged all creators to charge for their work. Also, I intend to submit this adventure to their next DriveThruRPG bundle, which necessities a paid product. For fairness, I'm charging the same price between both Itch and DriveThruRPG. And I want the practice of pricing a product.

Will there be community copies? I'm still deciding on it. At the least, I plan to submit this baby to bundles and sales.

The release date

I waffled enough on this one, so it's official: The Selkie Envoy will be available on Itch.io on December 8th, 9:00 AM CST.

It will also be on DriveThruRPG around this time, based on when DTRPG makes the title listing public.

Why this date? The deadline for submitting the adventure to the Workshop bundle is on the 8th, and I have a job interview in the evening.

Don't mind the "beta" placeholder currently chilling in the file section. I'm finishing edits of the final product and will switch it out before the release drops.
